E-mail or Instant Messaging -- Which do you prefer?

    As a webmaster, I prefer communicating online via e-mail. It's nice to have some time to think out your answers in an e-mail, and I like having an archive of past e-mail conversations.

    How about you guys? Do you see clear benefits to using instant messaging as opposed to e-mail?

    If I'm talking to my friends, its easier, and faster to use IM. You don't have to type out such a long message for each reply like is usually common with e-mails. but either way, nobody is ever online when I am so I end up just using email.

    You get an archive of chat with gchat. I much prefer the immediacy of instant messaging.

    I also prefer IM over email. :)

    As is fast as well as direct. No need to wait for answers as you need o wait in emails. :p

    I mostly use Yahoo Messenger!

    Instant messaging for sure. Sometimes I get lazy with emails and blow them off for a bit. That is almost impossible to do when you are getting bombarded with IM's.

    You don't have to wait hours or days fir replies etc.

    It depends, if it's business related, then yeah e-mails because of the fact that you have time to think out your answer.
    But if it's friendly conversation, then instant messaging.

    I personally prefer IM because otherwise it can take days to get information from someone via email
