I believe this should be categorized together with SEO, PPC, Link Building and stuff.

I'm now into studying e-mail marketing... but, to cut the crap, would you mind suggesting technical sides of creating highly-favorable Subject Lines that sell?

I tried to read this article, it kind of help but i'm still digging a lot of information here.

the key is having a target email list and not spamming! u get a highly targeted email list you can send out info or deals weekly and you can end up with automatic profit every time you send it out depending on your list could be 50 bucks could be 5000.

In my opinion your subject line needs to be legitmate. We are looking at doing this on our site right now also, and have come to conclusion (after looking through the stuff I have signed up for) is that honesty is the best policy.

I think the key is to ensure that whatever you are sending is useful and valuable. Don't look at it as a way of getting my click-throughs, look at it as a way of providing more convenience and value to your customers. If you are sending a newsletter, then put the headline of the main story in the subject.

The only thing I would also suggest is to make it at least somewhat definable in a ruleset, so adding your website name or abbreviation into the subject line means it will be something people can identify and will not instantly delete.

In all things, make it valuable, really push to provide a better service, the dollars will take care of themselves.

I put my site name in thefrom and title the info about the newsletter this works really well for me.. As others said be honest and upfront. Make sure it is optin email list etc.. because if people start reporting your site as spam too much you will get blocked..

very well said. :) i kind of agree into quality over quantity. recently, we just launched an e-mail campaign wherein we tested our subject lines for open rates. we divided the total number of our subscribers based on the given number of variables. well, results are still yer to come. :)
