O boy looks like people have reached a new low trying to get refferals. Just recieved this e-mail.

    "Fellow Link Amigos:

In efforts to bring you SEO strategies as we learn of them; we have provided a very useful tool below. We don’t normally write these letters, but if a great tool is found we like to share.

We would like to draw your attention to an extremely useful tool that we have found to improve rankings greatly for keywords it is a coop network.

How this network works is by placing a certain amount of text links on your website in exchange for “weight” what this weight does then is gives you links to your website(s) that are on other websites. The more weight you have the more back links you get, creating a win win situation. The best part is none of the links are reciprocal. So you get quick non-reciprocal links.

    Check it out here:

Hmmm... that's interesting... maybe they somehow missed the big, red, bold message on the page that gives them their referral link. :)

I have no problem with people using email marketing, but not unsolicited email spam. So that brings me to my question for you... Do you have any association for them (like you signed up for a newsletter of theirs or something)? Or was it flat-out UCE?

I think they only sent it to their members. I got one too, but I'm a member.

I think that because they didn't use a referral link they are just trying to help out.
I don't see a problem with that and it looks like it was only sent to members so cannot be classified as spam.

If you opted-in to be on their mailing list, it seems like fair game to me.. I saw this happen a few months ago from another newsletter I subscribe to, didn't bother me at all. Now if it was unsolicited, that'd be a different story.
