Basically it works like paypal but you have gold weight on your account instead of dollars. :)

e-gold is 100% gold backed currency. It serves the same purpose as the money in your purse or bank account. Once you have bought some, it is available for you to use on the internet, like electronic money.

e-gold was the first digital (electronic) currency. It has been online since 1996. e-gold is accounted by weight of metal, not US$ or any other national currency unit. e-gold is 100% backed by gold bullion, which is stored in secure vaults in Canada and Dubai. e-gold also operates and issues other e-metals: e-silver is 100% backed by silver, e-platinum is 100% backed by platinum, and e-palladium is 100% backed by palladium. However, the most popular e-metal (by an overwhelming margin) is e-gold.

How to fund your e-gold account?
    There are two ways.
    1) Receive e-gold from another account holder. http://hoprofit.com/index.php?topic=88.0
    2) You exchange your national currency for e-gold (or e-silver or e-platinum or e-palladium) using an independent exchanger. The exchanger will deposit the e-gold into your e-gold account, on your instruction.

    Hope this help.

E-Gold is good but you can also make a wrongfully use of it. Either way E-Gold is still a good online payment processing services.
