Hi, Other day I saw e-gold as a payment processor. I have seen many of the DP members using it. But I havnt tried it yet. Can anyone tell me how safe it is. Do I require a CreditCard to lift any sotr of limits as in paypal. ??
Egold is a good payment processor but the only draw back is that you can't upload funds using a credit card/bank account. You will have to go through a third party exchanger to fund your egold account. Or you can exchange with someone else. This means no direct funding method. Egold is quite safe if you are smart or else ..... And you don't require any thing to lift limits etc.
Most important point to note if you are thinking of using e-gold. Payments once sent to an another e-gold account can't be charged back(Like in the case of paypal) Al
and yes but most asian country such as myself will need to conduct egold between other none paypal users....and its good to have an account for yourself beside paypal.
e-gold is the 2nd most popular internet pay system after paypal .. some features : 1. No ChargeBacks. 2. Free to use in any country (backed totally by real gold) . Fees are affordable. 3. Very Secure. (unless your passphrase is stolen .. make sure you type proper domain name .. there are a lot e-god scams). Ways to get : 1. Best will be via 3rd party exchanger. Donot get scammed . Use the authorized ones found in e-gold site. You can OmniPay too (premier exchanger from the creator of e-gold, G&SR). But I think omnipay exchanges on big quantities. Hence you can utilize systems like : CapitalCollect , Fethard.biz etc. Or you can mail to Omnipay support for help. 2. Another way is to get WebMoney/Picunix etc and exchange them to E-gold. 3. You can also use AsianPay to get money. 3. There are several debit cards available who can send you money instanly (here dont get scammed again). 4. Or you can use some thirdparty exchangers as well to wire you the money.
I believe theres already a thread abt E-Gold with some good question and there answers . Search for it . Personally , I never used E-Gold
I need e-gold coz I have seen many sites supporting it ( but not paypal). Also can you tell me how do I get my money .... through cheque or what ??
Maybe you can get some answers through this thread : http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=210928&highlight=egold
You will have to get a third party ATM debit card to withdraw money from ATMs in your city (Country). And normally these cards cost around 40-50$ one time fee (except loading fees and withdrawal fees).
Sounds like I gotta loot someone to pay third party processors... Are there any sort of fees for transcations. Are personal accounts available ??
Well, I was curious about e-gold and just signed up with it. Yes, the first problem is funding it which I used a local exchanger and off the bat, I lost 10% service charge, it would happen both ways. The other thing I notice is that as a seller, you have full protection but as a customer, you will have 0% protection. Which means that once payment is made, it cannot be reversed. So as a buyer, you need to make sure that the person you deal with is trustworthy as you have no recourse. If the seller decides not to complete his side of the bargain, you cannot get anything back. Then the other issue is that you do not get any notification of incoming or outgoing payments. You need to log into your e-gold account to check for transaction. You do not get much information apart from the other party account number, time of transaction, the amount in dollar and in troy, no person's name, email contact or phone contact is provided to you either way. E-Gold would charge 1% for receiving funds and 1% per month for storing of your virtual gold account. As for transferring money to your bank account, it all depends on what the Exchanger would charge. E-gold is complicating and as a customer, I feel very insecure and it seems expensive. So use with caution. As a seller, it is heaven-sent since it protects the seller from chargeback and any recourse. Thus it is possible that you can be dealing with fraudsters who can get away with anything. Also there is no limit to the number of e-gold accounts you can set up and they do not ask you anything for verification.
Good explaination eddy2099... but the main problem drops in with the money transfer.... Thrid party thing sounds like crap to me.
You can get an email notification if you use personal link to pay someone or someone pays you using that link. It's in the form of http://xxxxxxx.e-gold.com. Just my 2 cents
Third party might souund crap to some people but due to e-gold's gaining popularity as an e-currency, it cannot be ignored. Also there are a number of reliable third party exchangers. Al
Agreed but it is time wasting and hassle for lots of people. I personally would prefer egold to setup a bank funding system for convenience of members. But still egold rocks
Actually, my beef with e-gold is that they do not provide any kind of security for the buyer and there seems to be an air of secrecy in the details of the transaction provided.
e-gold is good for those who are receiving money, as in e-gold, the system takes the fees from sender And i really like to take hosting payments using e-gold
