Yeah, I agree. I think it's because PP is not available in all countries and E-gold is available in those countries.. either way I still wouldn't feel safe placing my bank information in e-gold..

E-gold is not asking for your bank account. Actualy you don't have where to place your bank account.

"The e-gold system is designed to be absolutely free of any financial risk. There can be no debt or contingent liabilities associated with e-gold. For this reason, e-gold Ltd. does not possess any national currency of any nation and has no bank accounts."

"Instead, a growing number of independent exchange services around the world support exchange between national currencies and e-gold, accepting various remittance methods, including credit cards, bank wires, checks, and money orders."

 I never knew that. So if I sign up, I can start accepting payments via E-gold? How do they verify your identity?... (CC only?)

Well, they don't verify your identity at all. You can be anyone you want to be.

Then how do you withdraw the funds? (that's even sketchier lol). You can register with John Doe and withdraw with another name??

Can they send cheques to you through another name?

You can withdraw by many ways trough exchangers.
If you want to buy e-gold, you do it trough an exchanger.
If you want to sell e-gold, you do it trough an exchanger.

Oh yikes really? I think I'll stick to paypal then ;)

I think e-gold is the best because it does not requires you
    any credit card information..

when I tried pay pal they asked me of my credit card number..

Paypal is more easy to use rather than egold. Egold based on currencies. So the profit is not same all the times. For the paypal its fixed. I prefer more to Paypal :)

    Regards,
    Zek.

I'll go with Paypal for time being. Tried to purchase USD3 equivalent of e-gold, but the "transaction fee" to purchase that darn USD3 into miniscule ounces of gold is much higher than USD3. LOL

Also, there people trying to sell their e-gold but these guys also have a minimum amount to transact, say USD20, otherwise the associated fees just not worthwhile to them.

You can also load up a debit card with e-gold funds and withdraw from an ATM. Many of these cards are available for purchase.
