It is With all the competition for e-commerce websites online today, you need to be very strategic in your marketing strategy so you don’t over spend all of your hard earned money toward gaining traffic to your site. It is really easy for an online shopper to click into your website but the problem is that it is just as easy to click out of your site.

    As far as I understand you're looking for options how to make the client stay on your website. To my mind you should provide your visitors with the most interesting content and offers for them:). As for the most useful tips for affiliate marketing:
    1. Define your target audience clearly!
    2. Describe benefits of your products/offers
    3. Define your marketing methods!

    is your business B2B or B2C? I think you should focus on low cost methods at first and make the best of them. I mean the inbound marketing. Write a blog about your products, engage in conversations, make your site entertaining and informative, create profiles on social media. All these give a very good boost to your SEO.

    Today's consumers are very ignorant about traditional advertising and they trust friend recommendations on their purchasing decisions. I think every business should focus on this nowadays. Communication is the key and it's cheap to do, but takes a lot of time though

    Then you can move to adwords or banner advertising, which is more expensive, but only after you defined your goals, set your budget and clearly identified your target audience.

    Are we talking an ecommerce site that's an online store?

    The strategy for online stores and online information websites are totally different, since you're targeting the visitors in a different mind set.

    For online stores you want to target people using 'buy' keywords looking specifically for your product.

    For online information websites you want to use more general but specific keyword phrases.
