Not really. The code is pretty outdated.

The best php book that I've read is by David Powers, PHP Solutions. Highly recommend it as opposed to any other Apress/O'Reilly/XX book. The guy knows what he's doing and unlike most backend developers he's keeping up with his front end.

I've got a couple e-books I can email to you if you would like? I never read them but they seem to be pretty good...PHP Architects, Zend Certification, and some other one..
