Do you think opening a site which sells ebooks in a good move (as in marketing terms), also is there a script of some sort which can be used?
A site that sells nothing but ebooks? I don't think that would go over very well. In order to get people to buy ebooks online, you usually have to have be well known in your niche and then you can recommend ebooks that are related to that niche.
Yes, a good ebook site selling good ebooks at a good price can be profitable. There are some ebook site scripts running around, some with up to 100 included ebooks. I have such a script somewhere....was selling it for some time.
there are lot of ebooks out there . so it will be huge competition for you .. so first of all you have to see yourself are you going to give unique info which is not available on internet easily . second thing is your info useful for target audiance if yes , its best idea to give 25% ebook free of cost and when someone want to read more they have to pay , thats one of the best technique available for ebooks sale .
its not easy to find people to buy ur ebooks , for that u need to do enough of advertising with adwords/overture etc. there is a fair chance u mite get buyers if u keep 3-4 books free download and rest for some nominal cost if they are happy to read free books surely they would buy paid ones from u.
are you asking what should be price of ebook ? i think for general subject it should be like between $20-$50 usd .. but if it took lot of reseach effors and book is of great quality you can charge between $200 to $500 ... if you want more than that start offline tutorials via coaching center .
There's a huge ebook market on eBay. Even if you don't want to sell on there (since most sell for pennies), you can pick up 1000 or so with resale rights for less than $20. Not sure if they'd sell, but if they don't - you haven't wasted much money.
