So I connect to the Internet just like any other day from my GPRS connection. After doing my daily stuff (updating websites and shit) I decide to go to EFNET on IRC (just like any other day) and turns out that my IP is banned! So I look my IP up and search it on Google, and it turns out that it was under use some time ago by a mega spammer, and therefore the IP is blacklisted everywhere. Heck, even the Google search turns up 400 results. I decide to disconnect and reconnect, but looks like I'm stuck with the same damn dreaded IP for the rest of the day... Proxies are no good either, most of them are just banned as well. </rant> So has anything like this ever happened to you? If yes then share your experiences, and if not, then... well, share our grief! IT
Well, in this case, dynamic IPs are better IMO, because eventually you'll get another IP. Although you can't control who else might have (ab)used the IP... But if you're with a static IP & get banned or blacklisted anywhere, you're screwed... I'm going through that now, and proxies aren't very helpful because the website i'm banned at uses activex controls to verify the "real" IP. If you have a server, it's a good idea to install a gui on it & then vnc over. An easier option, for your problem correctus (being banned on efnet), is to use a VPN.
Dynamic is very good, i don't know what you are talking about. Just like exe says if you get banned from a website, you're screwed
i use bsnl, and it is provides dynamic IP! but i have never faced any such problems, last time i remember, on a directory i was just submitting a site and i found my IP banned, so i moved on
