    Hi all,
I have a local Belgian site in Dutch that I want to make more popular in the local google search results.
I have one question about off page SEO.
Will building backlinks on english websites harm my site SERPS or will it help ?
I am asking this because there is a limited numer of dutch Belgian sites where I can add backlinks.

    Thanks
    Amator

No it won't, why would it? Majority of the websites on the Internet are in English. Would posting on Facebook or Google+ hurt your rankings? Those are English websites basically. No it won't.
Will article from Huffingtonpost or English wikipedia hurt your site? No. So don't really worry about that.

Thanks, sounds logic that it should not harm
But will it help a lot for my SERPS when everything is in English on the site and I put dutch keywords in the link text ?

Thought I was the only Belgian over here! Nice to meet you :)

Using the same anchor text(s) over and over again is no longer a good link building practice.

Today you should use as many different anchor texts as you possibly can to generate a "natural" link profile.

That includes using your domain name (and any variations of it: www.yourdomain.com, yourdomain.com, http://www.yourdomain.com, ...) as anchor text.

While it may not make sense to add dutch keywords in an English article using your domain name as anchor text may fit better in such articles.
