I see some sites have the similar some kind of lists, special saying paragraphs and programming codes. Is it not called content duplication? The duplication detector tools of search engines are robots, not human, you know.
Good observation . Most of the times the code is served by a javascript since we usually include it in the CODE tags , so that is understood by the search engines . And even though it is technically duplication of a fixed amount of alphabets and phrases over and over again within the same code still that is not what calls for a penalty . When a fixed number of finite set of words get copied in the same combination on a different URL (can also be on the same domain but different URL like another post) then it raises a copied content alarm . The SE are bots but the have evolved to a certain level where they can even differentiate comments from the article , thought you may argue that both of them are still text . It is also easy to detect who generated the content by just the IP address . Since they are bots , they are not looking for classic signs that a human may look like a username on social bookmarking site but the IP address of who submitted it . In that case they are more accurate than even human beings . So before you feel happy that you got many backlinks from submitting your URL to multiple social book sites , realize the fact that the SE are watching you . Same happens with the CODE , since it is obviously within tags and progtamming symbols { } || : ; it is easy to judge that it is a part of a code and not normal text .
