Hi, I have more than 20+ sites. All were doing well in Google, for majority of them i.e. for almost 20 sites I was ruling on Google for majority of keywords. Suddenly on 22nd Jan I lose all my rankings. Don’t know what happen. For majority of keywords I was there on first page in first 5 positions, now I am in between 50 to 60 numbers. I even not find my site in first of Google in SERP results when I m search for "my site domain" in Google. Its appearing on 4th or 5th page. Moreover I also would like to tell you that we just implemented SSL to all the sites. because of that what happen that Google has considered same page twice. i.e. Google cached "www.sitename.com" and "https://www.sitename.com" for single main URL, Likewise he has done for all rest of the pages. So suppose if my site is having total 21 pages than it show 42 page indexed in Google, and when you go one by one than it will give show you all the pages with simple "http://" and "https://" Please suggest what to do. I am not able to remove those https://www.sitename.com pages from Google index with Google Webmaster Tools, as there is no such facility to describe top level domain. In to this removal tool you can only delete the page for this site which starts with simple : http://www.carloan123.net/_________________ Does this http:// and https:// consider as a separate domain by Google and does Google has penalized my sites. if yes then what is the way to come out of it. Thanks in advance.
Is the content of the websites unique? Were all websites penalized? Are all websites use https pages that copy http pages?
Google are now hitting down hard on duplicate content on the internet as its now being classed as spam, Matt Cutts calls it the "Cesspool", it could be worth either deleting any duplicate content or maybe updating your robots.txt file to not let google crawl those duplicate pages. I too have been hit and now show up on page 6
Does Google consider duplicate meta content as spam? I do notice that from webmaster tools/sitemaps that it does "flag" pages as having duplicate meta description information.
It's always been recommended that you have unique title, decription and keywords tags for each page of your site. If you can't manage that then it's best to omit a tag, as Google themselves quite often do.
Maybe your website contents weren't unique, google hates duplicate content. I agree with PaulB-IOM that you should have unique title, description and keyword tags for each page of your site.
