duplicates in metas

    Wonder of your opinion about duplicated titles and descriptions in SERPS, even if I have my own...

    So, let's take as example YOUTUBE site:
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:www.youtube.com
    As you can see there are probably millions of duplicates in titles and descriptions.
    Same is with site like dailymotion.com
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:www.dailymotion.com
    This time these are duplicated descriptions, filled with "language selection" content.

    All we know - those are giants, don't have to be afraid of sandbox, filters, penalties or whatever you call it.

    But what about other private sites? Won't it hurt them?
    Is it OK to put some efforts and avoid such duplicates?
    Or just don't care.....

    But I'm wondering then, if LINK looks so in search engine, then who will click on it with such title/description?
