My webmaster tools shows me under HTML suggestions that I have some duplicated titles. One specific example is my sunglass display page Infact the list of URLs look like this: Title = Premium Sunglass Display Go to URL/products/sunglass-display Go to URL/products/sunglass-display?category=19&attributes=120 Go to URL/products/sunglass-display?category=19&attributes=177 Go to URL/products/sunglass-display?category=19&attributes=All Go to URL/products/sunglass-display?category=20&attributes=All Go to URL/products/sunglass-display?category=All&attributes=119 .... Actually all this is only one page that uses php to filter out products. Using Javascript users do not see things beginning from "?". Which negative consequences do I have to expect on this issue, do I need to quickly take action?
Most ecommerce sites do, (and they also mostly have awful urls.) - it's an inevitable consequence of the way such sites are built. You're not doing yourself any damage, there is a small advantage to be had by giving all pages original titles, but in the great scheme of things, it's a small point for this sort of site.
I would recommend to have different page titles for different pages. This would benefit your SEO efforts. I think we should do this when we upload our products and if you don't use something like batch uploading.
Magda -- My above mentioned category page has only one address, there are no other pages created for showing product lists. Now using javascript you can choose to hide or show certain products from the database. Thats hit. So actually we do not have different pages where we could put different titles. But to make it short, you already stated its not a damage this way would be enough to understand for me.
Hey SeoTran, I think you need to user Meta Canonical tags in head section of your html code, so that the SE's will understand the page you are referring is same but with different querystrings. you can save your page from being duplicate content penalty of Google. for reference http://www.seomoz.org/blog/canonical-url-tag-the-most-important-advancement-in-seo-practices-since-sitemaps thanks!
Actually, it is better if you tweak it into like this: Go to URL/products/sunglass-display/Oakley/Black this will enable you to optimize at the same time the links and convert it into keywords.
you can use the different meta title for the all the pages. you can make one format and try auto generated meta title by product wise.
