hi, I have just received 5 infractions in a couple of minutes ( someone obviously having a bad hair day) for threads posted in the bst area for my products and I am confused by the system and lack of clear information. When I create a thread to sell a product I am able to select the period for the auction. It can be as short as one day. I had assumed that a duplicate thread was a thread selling the same product whilst the present thread was still active(this would be a reasonable assumption in my opinion). There does not appear to be a very clear explanation of what a duplicate thread is in the rules. Trying to apply logic to this, I would assume that if a thread is posted, and the auction does not succeed, the logical method would be to post another thread and try to sell the item again. Yet, given the infractions, it would appear this is incorrect and that I should somehow??? create a new post and link to the original post even though some of the conditions of the original post may have changed - e.g. price. [I might add that when I try to sell the item a 2nd or 3rd time I am usually successful so this suggestions the users are happy] I am confused. Can someone please explain and provide a clear crisp and beyond confusion example of how one posts a thread to sell an item that was not sold at auction without incurring an infraction. I would also like to add that on many, many occasions forum users post in the thread that they will buy the item, an action which deters other users from pursuing the item, and then the user who has claimed they want to buy the item changes their mind or never replies to your pm. I would consider the act of posting an intention to purchase and then not going through with it to be far more disruptive to the integrity of the forum than a 2nd post for the same goods once the auction has failed. So can someone please post an example of how I should sell an item once the original auction has failed, for a variety of reasons. Could I also suggest that something is done about users who make an offer in thread and then do no buy the item. thanks ET
One thread per topic/sale, ever (regardless if it sells or not the first time). As far as people not paying after they made a bid, report them.
so if i make a thread that says "domains for sale" and have the same domains in that thread that is a duplicate thread. [I am assuming, yes] if i make a thread that says "domains for sale" and have the some domains in that thread that were also in the previous thread is that a duplicate thread? [I am assuming no] if i make a thread that says "domains for sale" and have none of the same domains in that thread is that a duplicate thread? [I am assuming no]
Yeah I'm not sure about this either. If I create more than 1 thread, based on the same thing, is this against the rules? If so, It would be cool to make it 1 per month. Thanks.
clarification - the below posts have different subjects but appear to be the same, are these duplicate threads? thread 1 this week up to $100 per website via paypal only - auto-updating or very very easy/fast to update - no generic looking blogs - only .com/.net/.org... thread two last week - No generic everyday looking blogs - Site should have some traffic - Budget $100 and under per site - auto updating with content from major sites... obviously both threads are still live in the forum. are these duplicates threads or are they dissimilar enough to pass?
They look like duplicates from what you've posted. If you come across duplicates, use the report post button please and it will go into our queue for review.
That doesn't seem right then. You should be able to post at least 1 per month about the same thing, as long as you change the words and everything. Because you can't bump your thread, and you can't post duplicate threads. So do you suppose, if a new member joins and looks at my thread (Say about 4 months old) is on the 15th page, and he is looking for that, and he doesn't find mine, that this is right? Doesn't make sense to have it only once, Ever. That's terrible.
I have a question I recently purchased 2 new Dedicated servers and had them colocated in Germany. And since they are going to be new Plans / Diff prices and 1 of the servers I will be selling windows 2008 rdp's off from and the other is going to be for Linux VPS's I sold 2003 rdp's in the past and the same with Linux VPS's would it be allowed for me to post a new thread, since it basically a different sale Operating system/plans/prices/location etc?
