    I have pages with 14,172 duplicate meta description & 14,172 duplicate meta title out of 30,000 pages.

    Is that a major road block in getting good SERP?

    Yes it is, the pages with dup metas won't rank as well as the others. You should have unique metas for each page.

    Hi, H.B.

    you have to change their meta tags otherwise Google will not crawl all pages of your site.

    you have to write unique content in each pages..

    @NHN nice to cya :)

    Thanks to all of you.

    The duplicate meta description & title are on the pages where there is a list of data. Thnink of google search results from page 1 to 20.

    Is it still an issue as far as SERP is concern?

    The <meta name="description"> element is not even used for ranking so having duplicates will not effect your rankings. However, they are important and if at all possible should be unique for each page. If Google shows your <meta name="description"> element as the snippet in the SERPs, it can greatly effect click-thru-rate.

    The <title> element is the number one on-page SEO ranking factor. Having duplicate <title>s tells Google that you want all of those pages that have the same <title> to rank for the same keyword phrase(s). But each page on your site should be targetting a different keyword phrase. So yes, this is BAD.

    Fix the duplicate <title>s first since they will affect your rankings at Google. Then fix your <meta name="description"> elements next.

    Yes Dup is always bad!

    Also if your pages are duplicate of each other might as well have them Not INdexed and Not Follow so you can keep a smaller amount of pages to pass the Page Rank around on.

    Then you can add unique meta to that smaller amount too!
