Content is very important for google. For doing seo the content is the king for all the basics. Because when google crawl its expected something new for your page. duplicate content not helpful for seo
Looks like you own both sites, both on the same C Class IP with Rackspace and registered in south florida. If you do in fact own them both, switch the content on the mxr.cc site to something different. It can still be for your ring tone stuff, just do not have it be the exact same as your myxer.com Content is king and Google looks at it heavily these days, having sites that have the same content will only hurt your one site.
It's king but not all! You still need quality backlinks for ranking. In some cases good content will generate some backlinks to you as people will discuss it on some places (forum, blog etc...) and give a link back to your site.
you would be better off 301'ing the mxr.cc to the first rather than getting smacked for duplicate content
A good and unique content gives your site good ranking in SE and it does increase PR too. Thus its very significant assessment for SEO.
myxer.com isn't the OP's domain, the reason duplicate content isn't an issue is myxer.com has over 100k backlinks, Yahoo and DMOZ listed and 4 years old. The cc only has about 75 backlinks, and i'm pretty sure they have it geo targeted to another country.
The indexing and crawling dates are very important in determining how original a certain document page is on the web actually and the first indexed page could look like the original copy.
Not even remotely true, index date means nothing in determining what Google will display. You can take a 10yo web page and outrank it.
With both sites on the same IP and also the same content, you will see very soon, 1 site going to a PR 0 and the other one to a PR 1. If you don't drop one of them, you will see the PR 0 site "gray barred". What you are doing is dumb and will not work for what you are thinking. ************** Been there, done that... 2002
It's not the OP's site, and also Myxer.com ranks #3 for "Ringtones" and mxr.cc ranks #23 for Ringtones also with just 96 backlinks. Believe me when i say the people working on the site know what they are doing.
