I found a web page on the internet with the exact same content as mine.

    here is mine: http://www.international-phone-card.info/

    here is someone else's: http://www.navigata.ca/en/products-services/prepaid-phone-cards/international-phone-card/

this page was created before i became the webmaster. how can i tell whether or not my page is the original? or did my company copy the content.

the only thing i have been able to tell so far, is that my site was last cached on march 22, while the other site was cached on april 20. but that might have something to do with their pr 5 vs. my pr 3.

    any ideas?

If they have the PR5, google is obviously going to consider them the originating source unless you do something about it, so this could cause some serious deindexing.

If I were you, try e-mailing the site admin, requesting that they take it down. If that doesn't work, have your lawyer contact the site admin.

    Good Luck!

Ugghhhh... On second thought I just saw that that page is owned by a subsidary of Sasktel, the main telco for Saskatchewan, Canada. They are a pretty heavy hitter.

Are you absolutley sure *your* content is original? I don't mean to accuse you, but you are going against a fairly reputable source.

You need to contact the admin of that site. If that doesn't work, you might want to contact the web hoster to have it taken down. Good luck.

It first shows on the wayback machine for your site on Jan. 07, 2004

When checking the wayback machine for their site, they did *not* have it as of Feb.25th, 2004.

I would suggest checking the dates after that to find out when they did add it, and perhaps ask them to remove it. Perhaps they will just buy your site off of you!

ok, so it was definately on your site 6-8 months before it was on theirs. So, someone there at some time probably copied it off your site. It is definately yours to ask them to take it down if you want.

I'm not sure you can say definitely anything. The way-back machine doesn't have everything in it's archive, but at least it's a place to start. If you did find their site with the content before you had it up, then you would know, but just because the way-back machine didn't have a copy of it doesn't mean it wasn't there.

While you are right that is is not 100% guaranteed, I am quite sure Sasktel has more links and alot more traffic that gfriednm's site. Therefore, the chances of the wayback machine archiving it are alot higher than they would be of the other site. That seems to me to be pretty indicative that it is original to gfriedm's site.

Also, if you check the Navigata site, the link to the phone card history page is found on the phone card products and services page. That link does not exist prior to the October revision of the page. That indicates to me that it flat out wasn't there before, not just missed by the Wayback Machine.
