If submitting various versions of an article to the numerous article sites is it best to publish the article to your own site first. If so how long after adding to your own site should you begin the other submissions?

How many articles should be added a week as a guide? Is it a waste to add like 100 or so articles all together at one time to start off?

    Thanks!

The site has to be cached first. Then you can begin the submissions. :)

You can add as many as you want to. The more the better.

You can add many articles at once however, I'm sure there's a limit you should not
go beyond because you should try to make your link building appear natural to the
    search engines.

Thanks for all the replies. If you have 100 articles in total though would it be silly to add them all to your cms in the beginning, wait for them to cache then promote a couple a week or is it best to stagger the loading onto your own system.

    Thanks!

On google webmaster guidelines when it talks about duplicate content, it mentions the original article should be referenced.

This means if you are syndicated actual content from your site you should include a link back to the actual article on your site in the resource box.

It may be better to have most of the articles on your own site as 100% original content and you can write versions of an article to syndicate it out to other sites. This means your content remains original while still generating inbound related links.

So you can post as much duplicate content as you want as long as it's referenced? Awesome. :]

For me. I think it would be better if the article is unique and publish only on your site. It would be more beneficial to you because your article can rank well and give more traffic to your site.

My suggestion : do not submit a article which posted on site. Write another article for same topic and submit in article directories.

First post the article in your site & once it gets cached, the same article can be posted in others with some changes.

Oh yes.. before posting the same article in article directories, make sure the article page of your site is indexed and cashed.
Then go for submissions to directories.

The explanation for their suggestion is:

    1. All content on your site will be 100% original and therefore more likely to be displayed in serps for the targeted search terms.

    2. Articles on the same topic will by syndicated out to other article directories and will therefore provide one-way, relevant inbound links into your site. This will help give weight to the authority status of your site and establish more trust in your site from web visitors.

I think that is enough explanation although if you syndicate content on your site then you run the risk of:

    1. Directly competing with every other site that has your content displayed on it for the same search terms. This reduces the probability that your site is displayed in the serps for your targeted search terms.

    2. Not having live links into the actual article page and therefore not being viewed as the original source of an article... this could mean that Google could determine your site as being duplicate of other sites that have the same content...
