I'm starting to wonder about this duplicate content stuff with search engines and blogs. If someone pulls an RSS feed from your site, wouldn't that be considered duplicate content? Having the same articles as someone else is that a really really bad thing?
If they post directly out of the RSS, that would do it I guess. However, it depends on how much they post - 600 lines of duped content is alot worse than 6 lines of duped content
What do you mean, "suffered". If you throw up a blog and do nothing but put a feed on it, you really can't expect to light the world on fire with it. If your blog contains mostly original stuff, but has some duplicate info on it, you should be fine.
Check out this article about duplicate content as it raises some good points. The key is that if you steal content from another site you may not actually be penalized but you just won't rank based on the duplicate content alone.
I plan my blog to be mostly original. I see people selling articles out there and you know you aren't the only one buying the articles so you know you will have duplicate content if you bought some of those articles. Also if you come accross a person who is willing to write an article on your blog you have no clue if it is a duplicate or not. To know for sure that it's not a duplicate you have to write all the articles yourself. Your comment pretty much answers my question. Thanks
