I am planning to remove a website which was been indexed and use the domain name to start a Wordpress blog. I will use the old content as new posts. Will this be seen as duplicate content? I'm a bit confused about what will happen. Will the cached pages continue to appear until the search engines crawl the new blog?
I took the risk doing what you are asking about. I exported my old blog and deleted the content of the posts keeping. I didn't delete the posts, only the content and I linked the posts to my new blog. A very mixed result I must say. After two month my new blog is gaining speed. It took time for the SE to accept the blog. And I lost much of the old traffic as well. But in the end it seems to be find. I did it this way becasue wp.com doesn't allow a clean 301-direction.

The old content might still be in the SE's cache, so it could be seen as duplicate content. But as your new site gets more inlinks and pagerank, it should be no problem. Maybe it will take a few weeks or a couple of month, but the new one will be accepted.
