I made the mistake of posting taking content that I had previously used for articles I submitted to Ezinearticles and using them as pages on my website. Could this be the reason why I am getting less search engine traffic? I had good traffic in the beginning, now its falling off. In the first few days I was getting 33visitors/day from SE traffic, now its none or 1!!
Same article if you publish on your site as well as Ezine, then maximum chances are that your post will completely lost in SERP. Google will drop your page after few days because of duplicate contents. My advice, never post word to word same article on both your site and ezine or any other site. Make some changes and then publish it anywhere else. Read this post how to avoid blog or website penalization from Google to know what else can create problem for you other than duplicate issue. I would suggest you to make changes in the article on your website. Change the title, move contents up and down and wait for few days and you will be back for sure.
Odd! I have an autoblog (several autoblogs actually) that rank better than the original source. My autoblog is found on the first page of Google while the souce of the content remains back on page 4 or page 5. I always read people who claim dup content is bad and no good and yadda-yadda-yadda, but some of the strongest elite websites (in my niche) use syndicated / dup content and rank #1 all the time. My point can be proven: See ultimate-guitar.com blabbermouth.net Why does ultimate-guitar have an alexa ranking of 308 when their content is duplicate? http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/ultimate-guitar.com
Why doesn't the same thing happen to webmasters who syndicate the articles of others from Ezinearticles? Why would they do this if they will disappear from the SERPS? Why hasn't Ezinearticles gone down into the dust because of "duplicate content"? The whole point of an article directory is to allow webmasters to use articles that were published there on their websites!
Alexa rank has nothing to do with your contents. it's only measure traffic. if your site is high traffic, you can also get that rank. There is no relation at all with contents in Alexa rankings.
Because it's a establish site which dominates. If you have a strong site and then this happens, less chance of dropping your URL from search by Google, but if your site is new and not so strong, then same article will sure hurt your site.
I appreciate your posts; however, I am not sure this is true. Is there evidence you can link to that shows this? After all, Ezinearticles.com had to start somewhere. Why didn't they die off from "duplicate content" back in their "newbie days"?
worst case scenario is the site gets penalized, but in most cases google will filter sites that have duplicate content.
Duplicate content is not always a bad thing. Duplicate content is not always a bad thing. Duplicate content is not always a bad thing.
Yes if its a part only. its bad if complete post spread all over. Sooner or later you will be penalized.
Don't need to give proof. You can write an article on your site and let Google index it. Now when Google has indexed you. Publish it on Ezine and wait few days for result. And if you want fast penalization, make the count of article 3-4. Means 3 or 4 articles of your website as it is in Ezine and see. Your site will be penalized and i am damm sure about it. if it does not happen. I am here.
Here is another misconception. Ezine won't post articles that have already been indexed on the web. If they did, people would be submitting stolen content to Ezine all the time. From personal experience with duplicate content, I disagree with your analysis on all accounts.
geez.. all this playing with 'words' and nobody seems to care how great videos and images are treated still
