Duplicate Content - Shift from Blogspot to Hosted Domain

I just moved a blogspot blog to my own domain and hosting .. and I was wondering if the duplicate content (I imported all the blog entries via RSS) will be seen as unfavorable by the search engines .. anyone know if this is so?

Should I delete my old blogspot blog?

I would delete your old Blog spot. I don't know if this is possible with blog spot or not, but it would be nice to have a redirect to your new website location. This way you don't lose any current site visitors.

I think if you do a 301 on the blog spot, you should be okay. Can anyone confirm?

My current blogspot blog is pretty well indexed by the search engines and gets regular traffic so deleting it will be a pain.

Most of the other bloggers I've seen move from blogspot to other platforms just leave a goodbye post that directs readers to the new blog. I guess they aren't overly concerned with SEO .. but I am! :(

    Anyone has any other suggestions?

you could edit each post and put a link to the post on the new domain. This would help with losing the traffic.

If you can figure out how to do a redirect for each post, that would be ideal...but im not sure if you can do that with blogspot.

I would definitely do the "we have moved" final post.

I would delete the blogspot. I had such a situation about a year ago. I failed to delete and killed off about 200 bucks a month due to dup.

Just wondering .. will it work if I delete content for each blog post and only leave a note in each post to the new permalink on the new blog?

Or will all the old posts be still indexed in Google and show up as duplicate content?

Does anyone know if this will work?
