    Hi,

    There is a company which is offering horoscopes to a websites.
    The way they do that is you are creating a subdomain,seting it up to resolve to their IP,telling them your design prefrences and they set it up.

    I know tens of big websites which has partnered with them now there is the same content on all websites.

    I am wondering,is it possible that search engines can penalize my website if i partner with that company too and place the same content ?

    There is a link back to original provider on every page.

    yes... the possibilities are really high... SE's will penalise you in the form of not throwing your website on the organic listings... and you wont get organic traffic from SE's (very very very high possibilities)... you can reduce the same by adding the content of your own....

    No worries on duplicate contents. Search engines will provide the most suitable page and the rest of other pages containing the same content are ignored instead of being penalized.

    If that partner does not link to you and only your page has a link back to it, then that's not what we call link farming method so I believe there is nothing to worry about in this kind of arrangement.

    ewc21 is right.

    There is no duplicate content penalty. The worst thing can happen is that the duplicate content will ignored.

    BTW I run an article database site which has only duplicate content and I get more than 5000 visitors per month from search engines.

    what do you mean by PENALTY... if its about being banned on google for duplicate content then dont worry nothing will happen like that... but you wont get any visitors from google or some other SE too.... and thats because the content you have is already being cached by the crawlers so your website wont get any benefit of that... better get some unique content to get your site visible in SE's rather then just using the same content....

    all the best...

    There will be no penalty for duplicated contents because info are being shared and circulated by many parties on the Net.

    Imposing a penalty would cripple the Net.

    Duplicated would be ignored by the search engines but this could be avoided by building contents around the duplicated pages.

    The way you can get penalized by google is if YOU link out to "badneighborhoods" which would be:
    * Link Farms
    * Penalized websites

    Let's set an example on news providers. There are lots of online newspapers out there but many of the source their news on few providers such as Associated Press, Reuters, etc. so they end up providing similar if not duplicate news online. But are they penalized? Check on Google News.

    Penalized means banned and does not appear on search results whereas "ignored" in my previous post meant they appear less prominent.

    I have seen some huge websites with 10 thousands of pages which have also an exact replica whitout even 1 different word , but they are on google and are in the top results of google every day both.
    Maybe google knows their work is because handling more visitors by using 2 different servers , otherwise we must say the duplicate content penalty does not exists or maybe google is not exclusively robotic.:rolleyes:
    It is inetresting that these websites have many many links to each other.

    I'm agree, somehow I believe Google hired some staffs to do checking for the high PR sites and also checking high ranking search result in several key keywords. Of course this only my assumptions. Anyone works for google here may give the right answer?

    Most likely google will just ignore the duplicate pages so they won't rank for anything.
