Duplicate Content Question

    Hi,
I have a quick question about duplicate content I'm hoping someone can answer. I own a couple of Wordpress Sites that I am trying to raise in the google rankings. One site I am actively working on, the other I am not. I would like to move all the content from my old site to my current site, but I don't want to get flagged by google for duplicate content and drop in rankings. Is there a proper way to do this? Thank you in advance...

Redirecting those old pages into your new page would be the best solution you can do. A 301 redirect, to be more specific.

Ok great thank you. I'm not completely familiar with a 301 redirect but I'll do some research and figure it out. Thanks again!

You may have the facility to redirect from your cpanel. But if you have a helpful web host their support people may do it for you.

There are some wordpress apps that may be able to help you with the redirect. Search at wordpress and through Google. It might cost a little bit to buy and app (and I'm not recommending one, because I don't even know which one would do what you want) but it might make it really easy.

You can use the free plugin "simple 301 redirects".
Another good option is to redirect via the .htaccess file with the assistance of the hosting or sometimes the c panel has this feature (depending on hosting).
    Hope it helped.

If you succeed to convince (by requesting) search engines for removing all the old indexed pages from their databases, then the things would be easier for you.

A 301 redirect is an effective way to your current problem, and this is usually used by the webmaster to become the search engine friendly that will not affect your rankings.

    hi
redirection is the good way, or you can copy the content to new site and delete the old site. so that there is only one site left with that content.

Webmasters are therefore advised to proactively take steps to address duplicate content issues on their websites and ensure that visitors see the content they want them to.You know that it can take several weeks for your web site to be indexed by Google, so you're not too discouraged by the almost nonexistent traffic of your web site.

You can do the same by using 301 redirection. Google won't consider it duplicate content.

301 the old links or ping them until crawled and removed from Google's index.
