HOw much does the text of an article have to change for it not to be penilzed? i have a couple of sites i want to post my articles on.
Its not just the article text that the filter takes into consideration but the complete page, including HTML etc. I don't think anyone knows what percentage is classed as dup content by Google - guess it's trial and error, thats what I have found anyway.
When it come ot dup content www is right on and I would add the possible benefit you can get from submitting your article outweighs the possible duplicate content issue.
That's ok, I have 2 news sites that receive Press releases every day. Either of the 2 sites has not received dup penalties. Just as the gentleman said above, you would have to copy all content of a page - including Tables, Nav bar, color schemes, H-tags, Meta tags, ext. This on the other hand has nothing to do with copyright.
so if i get a bunch of articles from around the net (free articles sites) and use them on my site... i wont get a duplicate content penatly?
If they are not copywrite(d), you will be ok. Make sure that under the H1 Tag you give a article date and put these words next to the date - this is very important. 1) Article submitted by Press Release Date/Date/Time You will want to change the Article Title for a different slant. Also, write a summery at the bottom of the article and give credit to the creator. All this will help to keep you from getting a dup penalty. However, do not simply take peoples articles and pass them as yours.
top tool for you buddy ://www.webconfs.com/similar-page-checker.php aim for 50% max as a first target
Pure trial and error but its mostly the text I dont believe google reads the structure 2 for the tables because to a bot they cant see exactly how it looks and all tables are the same just the digits are changed for the width and stuff
I'm pretty sure se do not include meta tags in their dup check, but only what's inside the body tags.. Cheers, Johann
I disagree with webcertain on that element. I posted some pages where I changed the body text but forgot to change the title and metatags. When I did a site: search, those pages with identical titles and tags were filtered as dups. You need unique titles and metatags.
