Hi, I'm having a major problem with one company website (few in fact). The company owns company.com, company.co.uk, company.de, company.org and all domains are active and having exact the same content. .com is the main one and the rest are like gateway pages with duplicate content and links pointing to the .com domain. Obviously that has effect on the rankings and I wonder how can I fix this... The proper way for me would be to have different set of content for each of the domain but I don't think this is achievable at all. Anyone with ideas please? Thanks
you can do two things: 1) Redirect all the domains to the main domain 2) Write different content for each one of them, buil backlinks to them and link those domains to the main domain. out of these two, the first option is more suited to your condition Thanks Shailendra
Thanks shailendra but as I mentioned 2) seems not an option as the sites are 9 years old and have massive amount of content... 1)... Marketing will kill me
do those sites have PageRank? what about their SERPs of those websites? if those domains are 9 years old then it would be better to create fresh content for them and build quality backlinks for them. this will help your main domain in the long run.
.com is pr6, .de is pr4, .co.uk no pr, .org no pr. serps are very bad - more than 85% of the searches come from G with keyword "company" and only the .com version shows there. In order to change that first thing I'd probably had to deal is the duplicate content issue...
yeah actually duplicate content is the problem. because of duplicate content issues your other domains are performing badly. if the are performing poorly then 301 them to the main .com domain. in terms of PageRank, only .de domain is going to pass the advantage. rest all domains are useless but still 301 them to your main domain
