Duplicate Content, linking to your site before it is indexed

I wanted to a new link to a few social bookmarking websites, but I'm afraid that if it picked up and other people link to it, or copy it, that I can lose my future ranking for that page because it has not yet been indexed on google/yahoo.

Yet, I've noticed other sites add their links to digg, reddit, etc. almost immediately, or their users do it for them.

Can anyone comment on the issue, how safe is it to add a link immediately, will this create a duplicate content issue in the future if higher PR sites copy your text? Thank you!

You can only presume that this will happen if you generaly get very high quality content. Whell if your content is that high-quality then you will generaly get noticed on the social bookmarking sites and get blinks to your site.
So no need to worry, just submit.

For those that worry about getting their quality content stolen, OR losing their idea for a new market niche, I'd recommend dropping a link in the middle of nowhere. Some place that you KNOW g visits on some kind of regular basis, and no one will really see it.... and those that do, won't care.

You just might be waiting a while for it to get indexed tho, but in the mean time, just work on your site content. Constantly refine, add, think of new angles, etc.

Once G has your site in it's grasps (resistance is futile), then go ahead and start working on your linking profile.... all will be good.

    Good luck! :)
