duplicate content is ok if ?

Is this statement true? I'm going into article marketing soon, so I just want to make sure I'm getting the right info whilst reading articles on article marketing

 

Now a days there is no actual penalty for the site for duplicate content issue.

 

my blog has a lot of duplicate content..but the traffic so far is so good

 

True, except that Google will only show show one in its SERPs that it regards as the original version. Other duplicates will be ignored. So technically its not a penalty.

No such a Penalty, Very hard to implement such a algo.

 

Duplicate content is ok if you link back to the original content

 

eh??? What do you mean? It certainly won't help you rank for anything. In fact, it will be detrimental to ranking because you'll bleed PR along the link.

Or do you mean from a legal point of view?

 

Is there a dupe filter/penalty?

Answer, Google does whatever the hell Google feels like at the time.
