hye guys, i want to share a though i had regarding duplicate content: niche: song lyrics case: each song has 1 lyrics, but many sites appear on the serps as a result of searching its lyrics thought: with all those duplicate content conversations, punishments by big G and all, wouldn't you expect to receive only 1 page on the serps when searching for a songs lyrics? and which page would you get? the first one who ws indexed with the song's lyrics? the most authoritive site on its niche? the one with most backlinks? the one with the oldest domain? just a thought about duplicate content. i'd like to hear you guys, if you have any case studies in the matter.
That is an excellent point! I am going to ponder on this one for a bit and see if I can come up with a definitive theory. The only thing that comes to mind first is a copyrighted work, such as a song, or a novel, or other famous document must be excluded from the duplicate content penalty. The US Constitution, Beattles songs, novels like War and Peace etc can all be found online with tons of SERP references. So I would think that something that is legally published/copyrighted must be cross referenced from the G data base, but then actually ignored. Interesting......
Hey, Anyone can help me if I put duplicate articles and contents on my blogs related to SEO? Can I get PR? Can google.com ranked my website ? is there any plenty from google? Advance Thanks
Lyrics are not a copyrighted material as long a it's not being used illegally on another song (or anything like that), at least, not in India. I know a little bit of it as I happened to be on music industry. As far as the SERP is concerned, I guess, all most all the lyrics site have other contents that are NOT lyrics on a page. That differs. And, IMO, the page that come first with it, gets higher SERP.
Google has clarified recently that they dont punish anyone for dup content, it is just that they will show the most relevant results, so if your article happens to be added quite later than the others then it might not come up in search results, but there are lot more factors to it, like backlinks to those dup content, date added etc.
ahan cashisfilthitakecheck's ; Thanks for sharing info. I was completely confused about duplicate contents.
Hey I need your service for article submission? Please contact me for further conversation at PM. Thanks
Duplicate content is only a problem within a website. If you publish the same content ten times in your blog, then that will post a problem. If you submit to ten different websites, there is no problem. It is hard to know how search engine ranks 20 different websites with the same content. While age of the domain, quality links and other factors have impact, nobody really knows which has higher weightage.
