If i take an article and translate it on Google to a different language, would the content be duplicate?

Do you think google translates all the websites in the world to check duplicate content?

I think that is ok, no need to worry about duplicate content.

It will be indexed and then de-indexed after a few days ;)
So it's still a duplicate content, apart from being a complete crap.

I have translated some of the pages on my site, and now have gained traffic from those language speaking countries.
I have not noticed any decrease in the traffic from English speaking countries. So I guess Google has not penalized me in any way.

I used Babel Fish to translate the pages originally.
I have also used Googles own translator to translate another page, and that page seems to get a lot more search traffic than the ones done with babel fish.. So at some stage I will re-translate all of my site using Google translate.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers
    James
