Hey all. I've been spending the past few weeks doing some heavy off-site SEO, and have a question: Many of my backlinks point to a product overview page on my website, this page has been optimized for my keywords. However, this overview page, contains the same text as my auctions on my eBay store. (i.e. I am selling the same product on both sites so the text is relevant in each place). What I am wondering is, would Google see this as 'duplicate content' and either disregard my backlinks, or penalize my site in some way? Or do they recognize that many retailers sell their stuff on eBay and thus give some sort of exception to the content on eBay? Should my backlinks point to my sites home-page rather than the overview page, to avoid any duplicate content issues?
No, duplicate content only really becomes an issue when you're copying contents from other sites, as opposed to having duplicate content of your own site.
