Hi Everyone, One of my pages has been completely de-indexed from Google within the last 2 weeks, and I have 2 candidates why - opinions needed please: The 'old' page (which has been de-indexed) is about apartments in a a certain location, and the 'new' page is about accommodation in the same location. They both have different, unique content about the location, but do show the same products with the same descriptions. The new page went onlin around 8 weeks ago. 1) is this regarded as duplicate content which could lead to the 'old' page being de-indexed? (my understanding is that even if it was considered duplicate content the 'new' page is the one that would be de-indexed?). 2) we have started working with an seo company for link building. They have so far set up 2 links within the last couple of weeks, one of which goes into this 'old' page which has been de-indexed Any ideas on which is most likely to have caused this? Thanks in advance for any answers
You should definitely give links to both URL before any concrete suggestions can be made by members of this forum. There could be many reasons for de-indexing: 1. Too many parts of your pages are duplicate 2. Page being inaccessible for some time 3. robots meta / robots.txt blocking the page.
dupe content really ISN'T a good idea. However in this case, if it's actually been deindexed (and not just pushed to page 50 or something), it may be for any one of a number of reasons - perhaps your server was temporarily down when the google bot tried to grab that page or something.
theoretically speaking duplicate content is a theory on how and why Google's algorithm indexes your webpages. Do not be fooled I repeat do not be fooled work shift into believing or thinking that it is due to duplicate content because traffic is not generating or a shorter or longer period of time. Duplicate content has never affected any of my blogs or webpages and I'll be the first to tell you the truth I have plenty of duplicate content scattered across five of my blogs yet I'll be the first to tell you once again duplicate content has not affected any of my webpages or index websites or for the past 4 to 5 years after doing multiple duplicate content pages....................... Hope this helps you in your strive to get more traffic into your web pages and please by all means avoid the theory that duplicate content is getting you on index in the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, make sure you do social book marks that should help you in the main stream babyish dream,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,...........
