I just bought an article from someone in this forum, however when I checked them in Copyscape, there's an exact same article on the other website but that website is no longer active (I can see it from the cached version.) My question is : will my site get a penalty for posting this article? Thanks.
no...if that site is no longer active, you will have no problem and your content will be indexed. even if that site would have been active, you would have not been penalized because there is nothing like penalization. if Google come across the duplicate content, it simply leave it and move ahead as there is no point in indexing the same content again
Duplicate results will be shown as suplimental results in google. There is no more penalty for duplicate content.
There is nothing like duplicate penalty but Google won't give much importance to second source presenting the same content. Its better to change/rephrase at least first para of the article.
You will not penalize by Google. Even Google didn't penalize for using duplicate content. Site is no loner exist but the content is still on Google cache so you will not get SEO benefit of the duplicate content.
as he says, no penalty for duping unless you REALLY overdo it. However, dupe content won't HELP you get serps. If you can't figure out why, ask and I'll tell you.
duplicate content will give u result in ranking down, and duplicate title, meta will give u result in supplemental pages
If that one is not active then there is no problem but check the status of the previous one very carefully so that it will not make any problem in future for you.
