Hey all I am wondering about a few things regarding duplicate content and the way a site is structured. For example, I have a news page, if I goto domain.com/news there needs to be a list of news stories, and preferably the most recent or featured news story. Because the most recent news story will be on that url, will there be much of a penalty for also having the same content on its own url eg. domain.com/news/news-title.html Also I have seperate categories which will basically break down the whole site, not just news. Eg. domain.com/category1 and domain.com/category2. Each news story can either be attached to a category, or just be a general news item. Because each category has its own news section like domain.com/category1/news/ as well as an area with news of all categories like domain.com/news anyone have any suggestions as to how the url structure could work? I am thinking in the main news page, the links will obviously need to point to the category link, but I dont want the sites main category to be jumping about if you are just browsing the main news page. I guess I will need to change the urls of the news to be domain.com/news/category1/news-title.html but the first section after the domain specifies which section of the site you are in Any ideas?
No I would recommend one news for one category only. Otherwise it would be consider as duplicated. Why don't you just move "news" into separate category at root? It does not necessary to put "news" category under main categeory. Just one "news" category at root is enough, and could help most of your problem solved.
