Hi everyone, I have read two different authors now who have suggested that duplicate content is not the big bad boy that it's being made out to be. They recommended adding an introduction and conclusion to the article and it would be fine. What are your thoughts? benny
Not quite the big bad boy but definately one of the factors Google is looking at. I would suggest to go for unique content...
My own tests have shown that there's no "penalty" for dupe content. In fact, If you have dupe content and loads of backlinks, you'll do fine in the SERPS. Look at it this way, if a SE finds dupe content they have to decide what to do, how to give their user the best experience. For Google, the best experience is the most authoritative site and the most authoritative site in Google's eyes is the one with the most backlinks. I don't know how the other search engines handle dupes, but for Google, it's all based on domain authority.
That is only a myth that Google penalizes you for duplicate content. But it is always better to choose unique content.
Actually duplicate contents are being deindexed by Google so why bother to go on duplicate contents... Try to rephrase everything and you will do fine... So what's the use if your contents are deindexed?
my friend has an experimental blog, all post are from another blog meaning to say all contents are duplicate,. but still has a PR of 3 on the last PR update,. now what you guys think regarding it?
Google does not penalize for duplicate content.Infact what it does is remove similar looking web pages from the SERPs.it looks at which page was created first and then shows the same. It is also very difficult for Google or any of the other search engines to detect duplicate content. At one of the sessions at PUBCON, an example was taken where two pages with identical content were both ranked. The only difference was that the duplicated page had a different title and a different alt tag for an image. However, having said that, look at it from an end user's point of view. What value is a duplicated page providing him?...Iam sure Google will and is looking to strictly look at duplicate content....it defies its quality guidelines
Duplicate content is wrong. You should read the article, and explain what you learned, using your own style.
You should only use duplicate articles if you have permission and a link back to the author. As far as Google, they may penalize only if the entire site is duplicated. Even then, it is a slim chance. If you look on many sites, there will be duplicated information or articles. It is ethically correct to put the original author and link back to where you got the story. The beginning of the myth came when people were creating all the crap MFA sites and when Google took action, it was assumed that they done it for duplicate content. They done it because the sites were just spam and offered no value to the readers. Of course, as webmasters tend to do, they overreacted and the myth of duplicate content came to reality for most. To get the most loyal readers and offer the best for your visitors, I always say go with unique original articles but there are many making money off of other people's work.
Hello Benny Just one piece of advice "Avoid Duplicate content at every single cost". This is my personal experience from doing seo for the last 4 years. I am sure you can take my words on that
