Hi, I'm interested to hearing people's opinions on the following. If a site with duplicate content links to another site, is the link as powerful (or worth anything) compared to a link coming from non-duplicate content? Thanks Arctic_Fox
I am not able to understand what you are trying to asking here...... i think there is no relation between content and links. The site should be relevant where you are putting your link.
Thanks for replying theseomonk! Yeah basically i'm asking if there is a relation between content and links. If google recognises the content as duplicate content, is the link still good to have?
If the content is copied then the contained links have less weight. article submission is much debated issue because it does the same thing.
Ok thanks PSharma, So it will still have some weight just not as much? I'm trying to add factors to things I consider when I gather links.
Any duplicated content automatically hurts your SEO. If google finds duplicate content on a lot of your page- your site could be downgraded in the searches.
It doesn't matter if it's duplicate content or not, what matters is if it's relevant. Unique content would be best though.
I have to disagree, Search "buy games" on Google without the quotes. Look at the first 2 returns. Here they are GameStop and EBGames. Now compare the 2 sites word per word..... Ever see such a blatant example of duplicate content in such a major niche? Perhaps these two sites (both owned by the same company) makes large donations to Google?
Interesting question. I reckon that as long as search engines index the content, regardless duplicate or not, you gain the benefit of linking. Sometimes even unique content does not get indexed due to bad onpage seo factor.
