Duplicate Articles.....

I know that duplicate articles aren't good, and only one stays on the SERP's

    However,

If I make 100 different articles....... and include those 100 articles on my website....... can there be a duplicate content issue? i.e. the backlinks to the site won't be counted or devalued due to duplicate content?

Google is really good on determining the original content or duplicate content.

If you mean you will be rewriting articles and posting them then that could be fine. Google is not God.

If an article is placed in several different places, Google will give credit to the original source, the one that it cached first. If you place the article on your website FIRST, and it is cached, then Google will give your website credit, regardless of how many other places has the same contents.

Right. Your other articles may be indexed by Google but the page itself with your link will be of a very low weight...

rewriting/tweaking articles and posting them then that could be fine. I use an automated tool for this and have not had issues and have had pages (lots) indexed.

Here is what I recommend...submit duplicate articles to the article directories only, as many of those links will remain live for you, and will not get flagged by google - but do not put any of the articles on your own site. Write 100% unique content for your own site.

Write your articles for your site and then paraphrase them for the article directories.

This is eactly what I do. This way you don't risk any of duplication of your content and so you're ranking is not effected.

The question is... would the links in the duplicate articles submitted to the article directories be devalued?

Here was a thread on DP a while ago about this.
One guy had a site with totaly unique content, rnaked very well for his keywords, but was only PR2
A guy here on DP as a test copied one of his pages and put it on his own site.
1 week later the guy who had copied the first guy came better in the serps for that article.

So I would say, if a place you submitt your article to has higher PR then your site then they will outrank you on that article no matter who had it published first.. so always write unique articles for your site, and others to the directories..
