Bug Duplicate account merge/delete problem solution ?

I have a friend who had a duplicate account 3 years ago,
he got banned for it for 1 year, now he got banned again ( he didn't login to that account, he doesnt' even remember the old account id's

the problem is that he can neither delete old account, nor merge old account or create new account.

its a sticky situation, so is there a solution to it?

and how does one contact mods, if someone gets banned?

so do you think there should be some sort of a system where users can fix the dup account issues after they serve out their sentence!

he is stuck in a very difficult place as dp is really bread and butter for him :)

    Can anyone help?

he found the account id but it was merged within the main account itself during the last ban 3 years ago , so there are no duplicate accounts that actually exist on dp
Content available: i think its because he used the paypal of old account to link to paypal for quick pay Content available: thats whats causing the duplicate i think

No clue, he would know better than I would if he has duplicate accounts.

He is banned, so most likely he needs to wait out his ban. Unless it is permanent. He shouldn't have made another ID to get around the ban. His own fault. He should read the rules. It is very clear regarding duplicate accounts.

If the accounts are already merged then he can't be re-penalised.

However we've got quite a list of confirmed dupes for him. I'd be circumspect about fighting his battles for him.

Sounds to me like he has been banned several times for several different accounts. Sorry to state the obvious.

Thats not fair. It was asked that accounts got merged/deleted by someone but they decided to implement a temporary ban instead. How is this fair ? Merging of accounts is not a penalty, but rather a resolution. However if a new member makes a mistake and therefore requests it it's automatically assumed they're being deceptive. I've heard of ppl complaining on other forums that dp are strict and have banned for mistakes regarding dupe accounts, however from what i read here, it seems dp is only strict with new members.

How, exactly, do people end up with duplicate accounts? If you don't remember the account, try using the recovery options. Oh, don't you have access to the email anymore? Sucks to be you. There really isn't a reason for not fixing it without creating a second account.

Lots of people simply forget, they may have a handful of posts and then a big gap of years. If they return and don't cause problems we probably would never find out. Those that we do discover we deal with quietly and the user probably won't ever know.

If we're checking an account because of issues and then we discover a dupe then we'll take action. If they are active at the same time then we know it's no accident.

Was this not the most useless post ever? OP is asking for help for is friend who is locked out of account for issues.

Sucks to be you doesn't seem quite like a good solution, does it? I he can't get the account who knows if he's a scammer just trying to get access to that account, at that point so making a new account my be the only thing he could do.

Scammers and spammers get permanent bans
Dupe account holders get to keep their oldest account

But creating a duplicate account is never "the only thing they can do". We are not the only internet marketing forum that the user could use.

First, there are other ways of getting in touch with support other than creating a dupe account. I've never understood the whole "no access to email anymore" - there is NOT any reason why that should happen, apart from 1. using a job account (and since having quit that job) - solution? Don't. Use your private account. 2. using an ISP-account. Solution? Don't. Create a free emailaccount, either Hotmail/Outlook or Gmail, and keep that account. It is actually that simple.
