Let me get this straight...Im sure this is a really dumb question, please forgive me... Backlinks... when i type www.examplesite.com in google and it brings me the results...and it says something like "Results 1 - 10 of about 2,390 for examplesite.com".....The higher number of results the better and more valuable a site can become? Also, does this matter if they are links linking to various posts on the page, i.e www.examplesite.com/blah_blah or are they only good if they link directly to the main page only..
The links promote the destination page. It is a common thing that the homepage is usually the most popular page on the website, but that's not always the case. If you have a fresh blog with not too many backlinks, and you suddenly write a great article about something cool, and you get hundreds of quality links to that subpage, then the subpage could outrank your homepage To check backlinks you use this search criteria: link:www.domain.com. Google does not show all of them, try checking in Yahoo, they usually have a complete list.
That's right, for example the forum of digital point has tons of backlinks, as you may see the forum is a subdomain but thanks to those back links even the main page (digitalpoint.com) has a good PR.
so basically when it comes down to it any link to any page on your site is good... Reply With Quote not true and link from a ffa page could hurt you.
