The oil companies say oil is "too cheap" now... they're slowing production so they can keep the price at rip-off levels.

It's demand that is slowing. Production levels are the still the same.

    Way to go kip!

Price of oil is "very low"? That's laughable! Cutting production and keeping on the hush-hush...

Source? NEW YORK TIMES.... Why not try a credible source? Your buddy Hugo who you have displayed so much love for is apparently part of this conspircacy?

If demand falls, it is only natural that supply will follow. I suggest taking some high school econ classes. They pretty much cover the law of Supply and Demand. While you are at it you might be able to get the GED too.

    Good luck!

So first they didn't cut production, and now they did, but it's ok because demand wasn't high enough to keep the rip-off price, got it.

When all else fails, just resort to the usual diatribe of insults.

Have you been able to identify who they are yet?

    At first you note:

Then post a source that shows Nigeria, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates are actually they.

Then when you find out one of your favorite dictators is behind it, have a change of tune with:

Wouldn't it be easier to just blame Bush? There's actually a few people who think Bush is single handedly controlling the prices, despite your valid source that shows what countries are reducing production :D

And isn't it too ironic that one of the lead countries mentioned in the NYT article is Yo-Yo's adopted dad and hero Hugo Chavez. Amazing that the man that thinks Bush smells of sulfur would actually cut production to help GWB.

    Strange...

I think someone already pointed out that the small was egg salad. So that begs the question, who else has gas besides Hugo?

I like reading Thomas Friedman, who is a syndicated columnist and has writtten a number of books. I don't think he is either a lefty or righty at least as far as I can see. His insights are incredible.

For instance on the 4 major points about the increases in terrorism...he has written extensively about 1 or 2 describing the depressed economic situations in arab/muslim nations as far as job opportunities and economic progress. That is distinguished from pure oil revenue income.

Anyways he has written regularly and extensively how it should be a US priority to move toward a great variety of industries and efforts that promote alternative fuels, conservation on oil, etc.

    Here's why.

Funding oil funds the mideast, Venezuela, Nigeria and a lot of nations that have become threats to the US and the world economy. By example Iran has tons of money to burn on supporting terrorism when the price of oil is $70/barrel versus $30/barrel. Similarly for Venezuela, etc. Cripes Venezuela is buying fighter jets from the USSR.

Funding Saudi Arabia and the large royal family ultimately means we are funding the terrorists themselves. Some of that money somehow goes right back to Al-Queda, etc.

Essentially, we are captives to the single resource that underwrites terrorism.

We are paying for the fuel and underwriting the terrorists themselves. Boy is that stupid.

There is a lot of money in new technology and that is where the US is strong. Unleash research, technology and brain power into an entire new industry. Generate competition. Its the power of the free world and a boon to mankind. At the same time it would ultimately over the long haul change the composition of the demand/supply curve for oil. The lower demand --the lower prices.

This should be a national goal. Currently there is a lot of movement in this area, though not by the federal government. States, such as California are pursuing this in part. The guy that owns Virgin airlines and other businesses is pledging billions in investments into this area.

Not jumping into this is a huge mistake and costing the US billions on a regular basis, let alone funding the very sources that oppose US policy and end up in situations like Iraq....a potential more serious problem w/Iran, etc.

    Get off your duff Dubya.

Correct Yo. That's me. I got the feeling if Bush was the Chairman of McDonald's his major strategy would be to take 2/3 of their earnings, give it to the employee's and tell them to spend it eating at Burger King every day.

The difference is that our current oil strategy is a billion times more serious and dangerous then the above strategy.:D

One of few options in reply:

1)My sentence structure was improper, I meant...
2)There's a vast conspiracy with OPEC and the oil corporations of America, to get rich off the consumer. IT'S THE MAN!
    3)I'll ignore the response
4)I'm wrong but I'll just make comments about the messenger.

Maybe one day he'll learn the difference between nationalized oil countries and oil companies.
