I have the opportunity to buy a PR7 domain name, cheap. I checked it out on seologs.com and it's legit. Some datacenters have it at a PR6 but others have it at a PR7. I ran the bogus page rank tool and it came back clean again. What I can't figure out is how it got a PR7 in less than a year. And if there is something I'm missing in my investigation. thx
One purchased link could do it. Even if the link has been removed, the toolbar PR can linger for months. Too good to be true? Probably... what good is a toolbar PR7 if it won't keep that rank after the next update. If you can't find the backlinks (and the backlink wasn't natural to start with) then it isn't really worth a PR7 price.
Check it's live PR here: http://livepr.raketforskning.com/ While this is not a perfect method, it should give you a fair indication of how Google sees the site. That will tell you if the PR has had a major change since the toolbar PR was last exported. Good luck - I hope it's legit!
Search google for the backlinks and also how many times the domain name is mentioned (search for "domain.com"). If the site has no current backlinks then its not going to hold its PR7 very long.
There was one dubious PR7 on eBay. http://www.holylandent.com There are backlinks alright, but when you click on the actual sites, you will not see any actual links to the "www.holylandent.com
