    Hi,

I like photography but never really gave it time. I do click good pics.

Never really used a DSLR camera but now I think I should buy it and start clicking on!

My budget is around 600-1000$ for DSLR camera.

Which brand, model etc? Please help me out as I am a noob with DSLR.

There are many options you can consider. I have a Cannon XSI, and paid 625 for it. That is the lower end of your budget. If you want to get a lower end camera, and a lense to go with it that might make even more sense.

You don't get a lot of difference in cameras at that price range, you could get a bigger sensor, but depending on how avid of a photographer you are that might not make any difference. You can buy just the body of a camera like the Cannon XSI and then find a nice lense to buy.

Lenses are really what make a good camera a great camera and they will make your shots look amazing.

If you want to go the Nikon route, you can consider a Nikon D80. My best friend has one, and I love playing with it. Once again here the lens makes all the difference and the one that comes with it is not all that nice. The price on this camera is a little bit more than the XSI though.
XSI body only: $485 on amazon
a decent lens will be another few hundred bucks depending on what you want. do you want just a general shot lens? telephoto?
    D80 body only: $900
Once again a nice lens will not be cheap depending on what type you want.

Please ask any questions and I would love to help narrow your decision down.

If your max budget is $1000, I'd suggest Canon EOS 50D.

I woudln't buy the best camera because it is still going to have a less than decent lens. The stock lenses really are not very good, and they contribute the majority of picture quality.

That thread is more geared towards a less expensive camera though.
If you want nikon (which would be a great* decision) I would go for the D80, or shell out for a D90. Great*** cameras.

I bought a Nikon D60 which is a nice camera, but the kit lense which came with it, 18-55, is not really wonderful. Since you are still considering your purchase, I would suggest that you by body and lens seperately. What kind of lens? Well, that really depends on what kind of photography you are interested in, regardless, you'll probably end up with 2 lenses, one which is good for macro and one for portraits/tele. there are some websites for beginning DSLR photographers which you might like to have a look at, as they also explain what different lenses are good for. Most of all, experiment and enjoy!
