I have used both a fair amount. I like them both ;-)

At the moment I prefer Drupal. As a programmer, I am finding the code under the cover a little more rational than WP. As far as the system itself goes, I also prefer Drupal for its flexibility. It is easier to change things through the interface rather than having to mess around with the template. The module support is pretty amazing imho as well.

That said, there is nothing wrong with WP. If I was just creating a standard format blog I would probably pick WP. WP had that little scandal with Google though, which does drop my opinion a tad.

I agree with this sentiment. Drupal is one of the better-designed PHP content management systems around. As a senior programmer myself, it's a pleasure to work with and interface with Drupal's code, as it's not something written in a rush by amateurs (not to imply that WP is either...) but rather a professional piece of engineering carefully evolved over time. This solid foundation (coding standards, clean API design and documentation, deeply-ingrained hook system, etc) on which Drupal is built gives it enormous flexibility and extensibility and thus, I think, very good long-term survival odds and prospects.

You can read about it here.

I don't have anything to add to that really.

Wordpress is better as its easy to install and can be installed by any user. Drupal installation is more critical than wordpress.

Well I have several drupal sites but I wanted to use wordpress for a personal blog in order to have first hand experience with it, it was very fine for months until I got a high traffic spike (like a digg homepage) and then I don't know why (I had WP cache activated) but my web hosting couldn't handle the traffic since the site was consuming too much CPU. I then moved this blog to a drupal install and have been able to get the exact same urls with pathauto module, so nothing has been lost.
I have drupal sites which have way more daily traffic than this blog, and all are on one hosting, it's fine with cache activated.

Surely there was a module in my WP install which didn't work well with cache, that's the only explanation I imagined. But now I don't have any wordpress install anymore.

if you have too many posts, wp is not for you. wp wastes a lot of cpu usage.

If you want something not to complicated WP is great. But, well when you get into sites with many levels and user levels drupal wins hands down.

Simple content management and a quick site creation use WP, otherwise use Drupal if you need many advanced features

Both are good in their own ways. If you prefer an easy to setup and run/manage a website then Wordpress fits in well.

I like them both a lot they both have their uses Drupal is nicer and higher quality can do way more and is more solid IMO. But it takes time to set up.

Wordpress is fast and you get a nice site that can go up quick it is great for clients that have a budget.

I like the Drupal community more it is small and overall more educated, seems like things get a lot of thought put into them before they are released.

Wordpress has a big community it also has tons of people without much experience throwing out code and plugings and never looking back. So you can get a lot of buggy stuff and then no one follows up on.
With Wordpress I just stick to a few solid plugins that get updated and I don’t upgrade the core until the new version has been out a few weeks and had bugs worked out.

They are both great and have their uses.

    I use them both..

For a simple, lightweight, easy to use, goodlooking blog, WordPress is best
For a powerful, multifunction, expandable, full-website, Drupal is best.

Both are equally good but Wordpress offers more SEO enrichness than drupal and is light also. It is good if you want to create some personal blog. And for heavy sites with lots of members and videos, nothing better than Drupal.

WP may have more SEO Plugins, but that does not mean that Wordpress is inherently any better at SEO than Drupal can be. I think if done right, both are very good at SEO and probably equal.
