Drupal vs ELGG vs Wordpress mu??

    hi all,

I am trying to make a decision which open source to use
drupal or ELGG or Wordpress mu??

I want to give my registered users the ability to blog, forum, upload pics, youtube/video embedding. At the moment i am coding myself with smf forum as a starting point. But i realise using one of the 3 is a faster/better way to go.

    Any advice, experience???

    regards

Not sure about ELGG, seen the demos and all but haven't had the chance to download and try it out.

I guess between all three wordpress is probably the easiest to work with.

Drupal is the best for what you want IMO. Plenty of modules and support. Programming it is a bit harder though, but very flexible and u might get away without having to program it for whatever your asking. Blog, forum. upload files and pics are all built in. You will prolly need to install a video module and an image module and you should be done.

    Good luck

Yes, i have used drupal before.

Yes drupal has a newsletter module. Drupal is the most flexible and prolly has the biggest module directory of the 3 although wordpress is not bad itself.

drupal has been reported to be slow (loading)...

Drupal can do all the things you want, and it has a newsletter module.. As a matter of fact, my site has all those features - you trying to copy me?! :D

if not 'fine tuned' it can be a bit slow, but i'm getting over 10,000 unques per day (around 30,000pv's) with no performance issus..

    @tearabite,

If i could only copy you for halve of it (5000 uniques a day) that would make me glad :)

I just installed a drupal test site and i am reading up on the structure/logic behind drupal. It looks great!

At the moment i am looking into all the different modules and how to write your own. Really like the buddylist, invite, pathauto.
    A bit stuck on the og.module :(

If i got something to show can i show it to you and maybe get some "fine tuning" tips.

    regards

So can you do this http://www.teamsugar.com/ in wordpress? How about another 10 sites like it in the bottom of the page and interlink them together?

    sure you can, but :D

teamsugar.com is indeed my reason to go drupal at the moment. although i think you need to tweak it, to get some decent loading speed.

But "single" wordpress is the one i have used before and i like it a lot.

will keep you informed and please do tell me your drupal stories and ELGG if someone is using it.

Teamsugar.com has just a tad-bit of customization going on there.. But it shows what's possible with Drupal..

have a look on this site, using Drupal. I agree with fuser, using druapl requires more expertise than wordpress. But in Drupal you can implement any thing you can think of.

One more, issue not covered above is drupal is resource hungry. If you are hosting your site on shared server, the day you gain traffic, you might get a notice from your hosting provider to shift as it would consume lots of bandwidth.

Still, as for me, considering the possibilities with it, and the way it evolving, I thing Drupal would be better choice
