    i'm finally going to take the leap and try to upgrade from my slightly customized Drupal 4.7 to either Drupal 5 or Drupal 6..

    Is anyone using Drupal 6 ? If so, any issues?

    Anyone done the upgrade from 4.7 to either 5 or 6?

    Please share your experience, hints or horror stories..

    I'm currently using 5 but haven't made the plunge and upgraded to 6 yet, mostly because of module support. I find that almost all modules are upgraded to 5 but not to 6, so I guess the first step would be to see if your modules and themes will work in 6. You could try doing it locally on your PC/Mac first before messing with your live site to make sure all your functionality will be retained.

    I might take the leap myself soon and convert one of my smaller less customized sites to 6. :)

    Good luck with the upgrade, let us know how it goes.

    Thanks E-boi;
    First step is checking all the module compatibility with both D5 and D6; if any of my critical modules arent yet supported in 6, then i'll be staying at D5..

    I plan on building a test-site and importing my current site into it, then doing the upgrade & testing there.. the LAST thing will be to start monkeying with my live site.. i'll be chronicling everything in my blog to hopefully help anyone else.

    Excellent plan. I'll be interested to follow your migration since I hope to migrate all my Drupal sites to 6 once my critical modules are upgraded.
