While I am building a new wordpress theme for my new website, I am really thinking whether this is the right decision. I am doubting about choosing wordpress for the whole site or just instaling wordpress on /blog/ and putting Drupal on the domain as primary cms.

If you have never used Drupal you can't help me with advice but if you have, can you tell me what the best decision and how difficult drupal is in comparison with Wordpress?

My goal with the site is to give information, not blogging but more permanent information which is more quality focused. Besides that I want to offer premium content in the form of downloadable stuff like whitepapers (pdf) and other things. While in the beginning it is pure about being an information source, after let say 4 years it most be transformed into a company site. I don't know whether Wordpress is enough at that point.

If I use drupal I first have to learn building themes for it like I can in Wordpress, but the question also is how difficult it is.

What I want with the cms is having freedom in layout.
So every category most have another look. This is possible in Wordpress, but for Drupal? I don't know. And also must the layout be different for the homepage, article pages and feature pages. This all can be done in WP but I couldn't find the documentation to do this on drupal. Can somebody give advice on that too?

(for the joomla fans) = Joomla is not an option in this case.

Thank you so much. With the info on that website plus the links to some books on that website I will be able to make the theme.
