Is Drupal SEO friendly ? I have never worked on a Drupal site, but I recently saw portableapps.com which is using Drupal. Looks good to me. Any help ?
Drupal is quite SEO friendly, especially if you use path aliases. The default for a page in a drupal site is "sitename.com/node/123". You can add aliases so that a page about widgets could be "sitename.com/about/widgets". There's plenty of info at drupal.org if you want to know more - their forums are pretty active.
Drupal is SEO friendly. It have built-in support for Search Engine friendly URLs and also have CSS & divs based layout.
Well, thanks for the replies. I recently spotted quite a few sites using Drupal, and I've really fallen for Drupal. I'm trying it out right now as a trial. Hope it can be used as my main CMS.
Drupal is mucho SEO-friendly (I can attest to that!).. So how did your trial go? did you use 5.0? you staying with it?
Indeed Tearabite - Drupal is very much SEO friendly. I stuck with for my new site! Getting a good feeling of it, and will be releasing the site shortly. Drupal is excellent, but the inbuilt forums are a different story!
Yes, the forum is weak compared to a 'real' forum.. Have a look at these modules to beef-up your Drupal forum: Drupal Vb Flatforum UIEForum Module
for newbies who need drupal help...this is just an aside, but i found myself getting a bit frustrated doing searches on the drupal.org site when first starting out. the servers there are obviously overloaded and i could get a bit frustrated while waiting for the searches to come through...it's actually a lot easier to do the searches through google and then just open up the first several hits in firefox tabs and let them load. but yes, to answer the first question drupal is extremely seo friendly! just make sure to put in varied meta tags/descriptions too, and turn on clean urls (one of the drupal options)
Yeah, isn't Drupal.org supposed to be set up to showcase all that Drupal can do? It certainly isn't, and some aspects of the site give a bad impression. My biggest complaint is that the searching is a little two one-dimensional (can't I search *just* modules or *just* posts or *just* support tickets?) and it's hard to track replies to posts.
