Just wondering what people here at dp think of Dropshipping. Don't hear about it too much here. I know some people view the industry in a very negative way and others see it as a very interesting and intriguing Idea.
I believe it can be very beneficial if you find the right product, and I personally have had great success. However most people think it is a whole load of unprofitable BS as they don't look for the right products. I viewed it that way before I found an opening in the market and was able to capitalise
I gave it a try once. The benefits are you dont need to outlay any money. The negatives are your profits are a much smaller margin, and you take the risk on people commiting fraud so any profits you do make could quite easily be wiped away by someone. But if your dealing in things that arnt elctrical or high net worth then you should be ok.
If you find a good supplier that is affordable then go for it. It's really hard to compete these days though, as you might think you've found a really good supplier, but then you look on ebay and find people selling the same stuff for less than what your new supplier charges you. So it's very difficult to find a good one, but if you can find a decent one you can do quite well.
I'm just starting an ecommerce site and have a couple of good suppliers who will dropship me. The niche is pretty competitive but there's definately money to be made from it.
Yes it can be an great way to make money kinda a long term thing though if your planning on starting a website what i will say is that it's not quick money.
I believe you really need a total solution and a business plan. To make drop shipping or any other business idea work you need a plan and some research and a set of tools to help you keep track of your business and get it all done. I've been looking into drop shipping a bit lately and it's quite interesting, but I'd have to be really confident about how I would use it to seriously get into it (finding the right opportunity or market niche). I think one way to utilize it could be as an addition to an existing established web site where instead of selling as an affiliate to someone you sell from drop shippers since then you can streamline your product selection much better (greater choices) and perhaps even keep more than the usual affiliate provisions are. It's just an idea.. I don't have experience with it.
Lot of people make good money of it. And many loose as well. Picking the right company and products is the key to success on this.
I agree it is a good idea as long as a person does there homework and ground work! You should always search out direct contacts for suppliers as as well as drop shippers sometimes you may find it more profitable to buy direct and handle your own shipping with a HOT Product line......"Basically cutting out the middle man". It does usually require more invetment but the profits are just much greater..........Just my 02 worth!
Yes its a very profitable kind of business and the cost is low compare to stock piling. But the market already saturated,and its hard to get lower price for a paticular product.
